Special presentation to celebrate the work of independent filmmakers from various states in Brazil and whose work reflect different visions of LGBT lives and experiences in that country. The selection includes:

Wake Up, Acorda (Roberta Marques, Fortaleza/Holanda, 2005, 17 min), the story of a young man from Fortaleza whose dreams to leave Brazil to become an artist might just be possible when he meets a foreign visitor.

Tibira Is Gay (Emilio Gallo, 2007, 11 min), in the heart of the rain forest, four Indians assume their homosexuality and tell their stories.

Bárbara
(Carlos Gradim, 2006, 10 min), a transgender woman must take care of her dying father while the community that welcomes her during her drap performances at night struggles to accept her during the day.

Sweet and Salty, Doce e Salgado
(Chico Lacerda, 2007, 7 min), two adolescent boys, school friends, discover their desires and passions.

Salt Kiss, Beijo de Sal
(Fellipe Barbosa, 2006, 18 min), on a secluded island off of Rio, the carefree Rogério struggles to bring his recently engaged best friend back to the good life they once shared and to the moments they spent together.

Our Passion, Nossa Paixao (Leandro Duarte and Rui Calvo, 2006, 6 min), two girlfriends reenact the fiercely fight of another couple.

Pages of a Girl, Paginas de Menina
(Monica Palazzo, 2008, 19 min), a meeting between two women, carefully aesthetic influenced by Edward Hopper and Tamara de Lempicka paintings.

Se Pá…
(Dácio Pinheiro, 2007, 15 min), documentary about a youth group and their opinions on life, politics and culture.
 
     
 

Join us to celebrate our FALL 2008 SEASON PREMIERE with invited guests, the return of the CINEMAROSA Fan Club, and specialty Brazilian cocktails and light refreshments at the Unisphere Gallery of the Queens Museum of Art.
